| The only current GP rider from the Americas, McChesney, failed to add to his 3 titles after he started with two last places leaving the way clear for defending champ Ricky Antunovich to retain the crown here. He did need to beat Jean-Marc Struthers in a run-off to do so, after both had finished on 14 points, with young Jack Hagen completing the rostrum places. This was the clearest cut of all the national finals in terms of qualifier for the GP Challenge Semi Finals with Wilbur Stanyk and Dwayne Houtby joining the top trio in the next stage as they scored 11 apiece to finish well clear of the chasing pack. |
