Scott McLeish was the comfortable winner of this meeting and he was joined on the rostrum by Craig Leonard, runner-up in this
competition last year, and Darcy Broad in making progress to the final as expected. Michael Plant scored 11 and a trio of riders, Michael France, Cameron Monk & Ralph Whelan, picked
up 10 points as the top 7 looks well ahead of the rest of the field in this meeting. 15 year old France was highly impressive and looks to have the making of a champion in the next
couple of seasons, if not this year even, and he will be the youngest rider in the final. The final place was taken by Ben Case who surprised a few in the crowd with a solid performance that
saw him stay ahead of rider who had been perhaps more highly fancied such as Cormack, Bettes and Trott. Betts was perhaps a touch unlucky to suffer an engine failure in his second ride when up against
Whelan and Case who took the final 2 places in the next round, but at just 16 he will have another chance next season.
