NORTH AMERICAN GRAND PRIX
| LUKE TREADWELL (BRATISLAVA BUZZARDS) showed that not riding in the UK has had no ill effect on his early season form by riding unbeaten in the first GP of the season to rack up an amazing 21 point score. LIAM REAY (TILBURY DOCKERS) is aiming to match Nick Ambrose's achievement of 3 straight world titles this season and although he had no answer to Treadwell's form he looked streets ahead of every other rider as he finished 2nd. Wildcard JACK HAGEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) continues to confirm his promise as a potential world champion of the future; he followed up some good early season form in the UL by improving as the meeting went on to complete the rostrum places in his home nation. The final was completed by GP newcomer NIKITA FEDORENKO (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) with the World Pairs Champion ending with 11 well earned points. |
| HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) also scored 11 in reaching the Semi Final stage and he will want to continue that form through the series as he looks to recover from a disappointing performance last season. Also in the Semi Finals were young Polish duo GABRYS IRZYK (NEWMARKET RAIDERS) and BOGUSLAW KRYZNOWEK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) who both showed up well, particularly early in the meeting. The final man to reach the Semi Final stage was HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) who was looking to add to his 8 points from qualifying but saw his hopes ended when he hit the tapes in the second Semi. |
| Behind the leaders HENRIK HANSEN (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) and BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) both made solid starts to the series with 7 points apiece. CHRIS ADAMS (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) scored 6 but he will be needing to do better in coming meetings if he is to repeat last season's rostrum finish. STEEN ERIKSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS), OLLE BJORN THORESEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) and MACIEJ TERCJAK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) all battled well but couldn't win a heat between them as they all seemed to have their own hard luck story from this round. FILLIPPE CHONG (WANTAGE KINGS) impressed last year, in his debut GP season, but had a meeting to forget in this one and will be wanting to do much better next time out. 3 time World Champion, and runner-up last season, NICK AMBROSE (RYE RACERS) showed nothing like the form we've come to expect from him and just couldn't seem to get on the pace as he ended bottom of the pile here with just 2 points. |
