AUSTRALASIAN GRAND PRIX

NICK AMBROSE (RYE RACERS) finally showed the GP form he has proved himself capable of in the past with a comfortable qualifying round of races followed by 2 heat wins to take victory in this round.  The result moves him up from 11th to joint 5th overall and puts him within reach of the rostrum places.  Behind him Polish rider GABRYS IRZYK (NEWMARKET RAIDERS) continued his impressive start to the series by racking up 17 points, overcoming an engine failure in one heat, to move himself to 3rd place in the overall standings.  Wild Card TIBOR NEMECEK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) came 3rd to suggest that his recent European Semi Final win was no fluke and that he is ready to challenge for a permanent place in the GPs.  The final was completed by BOGUSLAW KRYZNOWEK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) who remains in 5th place overall to continue impressing everyone with his solid displays.

Defending champion LIAM REAY (TILBURY DOCKERS) picked up a useful 10 points which sees him join LUKE TREADWELL (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) as joint top of the overall leaderboard with the experienced Scot continuing to surprise everyone after his recent move back to the UK leagues.  HENRIK HANSEN (TUNSTALL TERRIORS) and FILLIPPE CHONG (WANTAGE KINGS) were the other riders to reach the Semi Final stage although both remain outside the top 8 overall at the moment.

MACIEJ TERCJAK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) and HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) scored useful points which did their overall standings no harm, Bergestol clinging on to a spot in the top 8 as a result.  NIKITA FEDERENKO (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) recorded another solid round and he sits 7th overall now.  BRAXTON MCCHESNEY (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) picked up 6 points and dropped out of the top 8 overall, albeit only 2 points off.  It was a disaster for HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) who started the round in 3rd overall but fell in his 3rd ride and was forced to withdraw with an injury; Hayden still sits up in 4th place overall and it was confirmed quickly that the knock was not a serious one and he won't miss any meetings as a result.  STEEN ERIKSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS), CHRIS ADAMS (BRATISLAVA BUZZARDS) and OLLE BJORN THORESEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) all picked up just 3 points and the trio will be looking to improve their displays quickly if they want to push up the leaderboard.  Both reserves also had outings with DAVID BEDFORD (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) failing to score but CARSTEN OSTENSTAD (CHARLEMONT CHARGERS) doing well to pick up a couple of points.
